PLAYER RATINGS: Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United

By far the best performance of the season so far for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has got this team playing some seriously good, intense football in just a few weeks and I am extremely excited to see where the club goes in 2020.

RATINGS:

Leno - 7

Our player of the season so far, he stepped up the occasion following the mistake against Chelsea with some vital saves. Commanding, agile, quick reactions.

Maitland-Niles - 6

He gave the ball away a fair number of times in crucial positions inside his own half, and I feel this summed up his performance - he tried a lot, but it didn’t always pay off.

Sokratis - 7.5

It’s safe to say I’m definitely not his biggest fan, however today was a solid defensive performance. He did everything he needed to right, and bagged himself a goal too.

Luiz - 8.5

He led by example tonight with a very solid display, both defensively and offensively. He willed the team and the fans on and was a joy to watch.

Kolasinac - 7.5

Going forward, he was a key figure in a number of our transitions in the first half. His link up play was sublime and he deserved the assist that he got.

Torreira - 9.5

A faultless performance. Torreira won every ball in midfield, every tackle, every interception - he was everywhere on the pitch and it‘s so good to see him back to his best under Arteta.

Xhaka - 8

Another solid United performance. He did all the basics right and was very effective in the middle of the park.

Pépé - 9

Deserved another goal to go with his 8th minute opener. His confidence is evidently improving, he’s taking players on and turning them inside out.

Özil - 8.5

He’s such a joy to watch. Not only did he put in a typically flawless attacking performance, picking out players left right and centre, but only Torreira covered more ground than Özil for Arsenal. But I thought he didn’t work hard? ;)

Aubameyang - 6.5

I felt Auba was ineffective tonight. His general build-up play was okay, but was matched by poor decision making in the final third. Though, to be fair, I’m still sure he feels uncomfortable out on the left. Not a very good night for him.

Lacazette - 6.5

How on earth did he kick the ball out for a throw-in from inside the 6 yard box? Why did he hit it with the outside of his left foot?! Other than that, his hold up play was decent and he got others into the game. I would just expect a lot more in the final third from our number 9.

Overall an extremely good game and there are so so many positives to take into the next game. A much needed win - COYG!
